Millions Threatened by Glacial Meltdown
4 06 2007According to the UN Environment Program (UNEP), an estimated 40 percent of the world’s population could be affected by loss of snow and glaciers on the mountains of Asia. Communities surrounding the Alps and Pyrenee regions are also among those who would be adversely affected by global warming. Avalanches and floods are just some of the increased potential hazards of the melting ice and snow.
