Earth’s Interior May Hold More Water Than Is Present On Its Surface

According to Japanese researchers, there may be more water in the earth’s interior than in all lakes, rivers and oceans combined. “Our results suggest that the lower mantle can potentially store considerable amounts of water,” said Motohiko Murakami of the Tokyo Institute of Technology, where the experiments were conducted.
