The following question comes from our Shoutbox:

Mike: What is so bad about #7 plastic bottles ? 516779___drink__.jpg

Guest_3745: #7 is a designation for poly carbonate plastics; they leach phthlates when scratched and heated water is used in them; in particular they leach bisphenol-a.

You Can Lead Them to Water…

18 11 2007

You can lead folks to water, but you can’t make them drink. The point being is that I know people who have illnesses and are in pain who suffer from fatigue and other ailments that can be attributed to chronic dehydration. So would water remedy their condition?

I think that it is agreed that drinking good clean water is a great place to start. The problem is not the water intake at this point. The problem is the water source and the means of receiving that water. So you want to heal naturally and you do all that you can to take care of yourself. You buy the best bottled spring water. Most likely from a plastic container. Read this post about the dangers of plastic. Or maybe you feel that distilled water or reverse osmosis is the way to go. Guess again.

These waters are basically dead and purged of minerals. The water will replace these minerals from your body. This can create a whole series of other conditions. I’m not trying to instill fear, I just want to make you aware of the fact that spring water bottled in plastic is acidic and is also in plastic. I don’t believe that allowing PCBs from plastic to enter your body via acidic water is beneficial in any way to any condition or ailment that you may suffer from. By drinking Kangen water from Enagic you are assured that you are drinking clean water, with a pH that will assist to bring your body to a slightly alkaline state. You are also ensuring that your body is absorbing the water at a molecular level because you are drinking Kangen water, which is also known as micro-clustered water or structured water.

More Information About the Dangers of Plastic

10 09 2007

Please check out Dr. Mercola’s newsletter article about the dangers of plastic. There are also several links to the original articles, if you want more detailed information.

Here’s the bottom line. When is the right time to listen to your instincts? How long will people wait to be told that plastics are just not safe? I, for one, have not been waiting for someone to tell me what is safe and what is not. I’ve read the information out there, and even though there is no “conclusive evidence,” I’d rather take action now.

If you’re already drinking Kangen Water, what are you transporting it in? Hopefully, not plastic, like I was. Was is the point in drinking the best water on the planet if it’s transported in plastic?

If you haven’t already, please check out www.SafeCanteen.com for a wide assortment in stainless steel water bottles.

Why stainless steel?

  • It’s non leaching, and safe.
  • It’s also much more practical than using glass, which we were doing at first. Glass gets pretty heavy, and with our son, it’s not practical. So we have opted for stainless steel.
  • Better for the environment. Plastic never truly decomposes, and pollutes our soil and water, in turn poisoning the produce and fish we eat.

World Water Crisis

17 08 2007

Admittedly, since summer started and my son has been home for the vacation, I haven’t been keeping up so well with water news. I’ve caught up on some news, and it has made me realize that we have so much to be thankful for. From water shortages in Turkey, to severe flooding in India, I cannot even comprehend living in such dire conditions.

Hospitals in Turkey have stopped accepting new patients, and are having tankers deliver one-hour supplies of water, even for operations.

Flooding in India has left people with very little drinking water, and no medical supplies.

Residents in San Bernardino County, California require drinking water. It’s not just abroad, but here, domestically, as well.

I am thankful for my Kangen Water unit. Firstly, because I am able to drink my tap water (which normally smells like like the local YMCA pool). Secondly, I am able to do my part in helping the environment by not using bottled water. In fact, my recycling can is only one-third full, compared to a year ago, when it would overflow with plastic gallon water bottles. So I know that I am doing my part, especially finding out that NY/NJ beaches are reporting a 96% increase in beach closures over last year, because of pollution.

Let’s make ourselves aware, and be thankful for the clean water we have to drink.

Plastic Awareness

9 08 2007

Yesterday, on the local Philly news, they had a short story about the dangers of plastics. I was very happy to see that this actually made the news. However, the news story did not go into enough detail — just enough to make people maybe think, but not enough to make people actually aware. Concluding the story by saying that it may be years before we have conclusive evidence about the dangers of plastic isn’t sending enough urgency to people. It’s just one of those stories that viewers end up ignoring because of how the story is actually treated.

Well, at Kangen Water Report, we are very adamant that people do their research about the hazards of plastic. I have posted several articles already, and will post more. I have switched to stainless steel water bottles for myself, my husband, and our son. I have stopped using plastic for storing my food, and years ago had already stopped using plastic in the microwave. I’ve also stopped putting anything plastic in the dishwasher, because the water gets so hot, that the heat changes the properties of the plastic, and the chemicals leach onto everything else in the dishwasher. I feel that I am taking the necessary precautions to protect my family from something that has been taken for granted for years, no matter how dangerous, because it is convenient.

For those people who are taking a positive step in their health and awareness, stainless steel water bottles can be found at www.SafeCanteen.com
