I got this in an email, so take it for what it’s worth. I just think there are some interesting fun facts I would like to share our readers.

It’s been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish… All before making a human. He made and provided what we’d need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We’re such slow learners…

God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!

School lunchrooms using ammonia treated beef?

School lunchrooms and fast food establishments are using a beef component in their ground meat for burgers that has been injected with ammonia to kill E. coli and salmonella, according to a New York Times article.

Beef Products Inc., the company responsible for this innovative technique to use fatty trimmings that were once relegated to dog food and cooking oils, had commissioned a study that revealed that the ammonia process was effective in killing E. coli and salmonella.

With the approval of the United States Department of Agriculture, this processed beef has become a mainstay in school lunchrooms and fast food establishments. According to the article, the federal school lunch program used an estimated 5.5 million pounds of the processed beef last year alone.

The article goes on to state: “But government and industry records obtained by The New York Times show that in testing for the school lunch program, E. coli and salmonella pathogens have been found dozens of times in Beef Products meat, challenging claims by the company and the U.S.D.A. about the effectiveness of the treatment. Since 2005, E. coli has been found 3 times and salmonella 48 times, including back-to-back incidents in August in which two 27,000-pound batches were found to be contaminated. The meat was caught before reaching lunch-rooms trays.”

On a personal note, this information is enough for me to no longer allow my son to buy school lunches that contain beef. I have contacted the township school board via email to find out who the beef supplier is for our lunch program. Hopefully, I will get a response soon.

Many Alzheimer’s researchers have long touted fish oil, by pill or diet, as an accessible and inexpensive “weapon” that may delay or prevent this debilitating disease. Now, UCLA scientists have confirmed that fish oil is indeed a deterrent against Alzheimer’s, and they have identified the reasons why.

Greg Cole, professor of medicine and neurology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and associate director of UCLA’s Alzheimer Disease Research Center, and his colleagues report that the omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) found in fish oil increases the production of LR11, a protein that is found at reduced levels in Alzheimer’s patients and which is known to destroy the protein that forms the “plaques”

Healthy Foods Are Too Expensive for Millions, Research Shows

Eating right, new research shows, is getting so expensive that millions of Americans can’t afford it.

In what is believed to be the first study of its kind, researchers at the University of Washington focused on the cost of eating foods that are rich in nutrients, and low in calories, like fresh vegetables, whole grains, fish and lean meats. That’s the stuff we’re told we have to eat if we are going to shed a few pounds and remain healthy.

But when the researchers checked prices at numerous stores around the Seattle area, they found that the good, healthy foods had soared in price over a two-year period, jumping by nearly 20 percent compared to a 5 percent increase in the overall food price inflation. And during that same period, high-calorie foods had remained about the same price, and in some cases had actually dropped. Read the full article here
