We CAN Change the World

29 06 2007

This next article talks about plastic alternatives.  Since plastic does not fully break down, there are miniscule particles that are polluting our soils, lakes, rivers, and oceans.  Our landfills are full of plastic bags, and there is an island of plastic floating around the Pacific Ocean.  This is just not acceptable.

What can we do about it?  If everyone does their part, even a little bit, it can add up to a whole lot.

Start with reusable bags when you go to the supermarket.

Switch from plastic water bottles to stainless steel water bottles.  Buy them at www.SafeCanteen.com.

By cutting down on our plastic consumption, we can make a dent in the pollution problem.  To change the world, we must start with ourselves.  Let’s all do our part.

Another Reason I am Thankful for My Kangen Water Unit

26 06 2007

Today I found another reason to be thankful for our Kangen Water unit. I suppose the cleaning properties of the strong acidic water are not touted enough. Today, I had a great wake-up call.

My son, who is home for the summer, was playing in the backyard, in some dirt. He came in, and told me he got poop on his hands from the dirt. Since we do not have any pets, I am assuming it came from the cat my neighbor has been feeding for two years now, even though he has a home two blocks away. He is the only animal that passes through our yard.

The cleaning properties of the strong acidic water are amazing. Though he washed his hands with soap and water, I felt better knowing his hands were sanitized when I sprayed his hands with strong acid water, which kills E.coli within 30 seconds of contact.

To see a full chart of all the disinfectant effects of strong electrolytic water, see our post of March 12

Just another reason to own a Kangen Water unit.

The Non Safety of Plastics

26 06 2007

It’s amazing that only about two years ago, my co-workers were giving me funny looks when I said that microwaving plastic bowls (even lids) or trays just wasn’t safe. No one wanted to listen because their lunches were packed in plastic and, after all, were low in fat and calories, and most importantly, easy and quick. To have a hot lunch in only three minutes!! Wow!

The convenience of plastic has made our lives easier, yes. But at what cost? Are the health risks really worth it? From bizarre changes to the reproductive system to disruptions to the endocrine system, plastic is not as safe as it has been touted. Over the next few days, I will be posting various articles about the safety of plastic in our foods and beverages.

Through my research, I have found the safest and most practical way to carry our water. No matter which water you are drinking, it is important to carry it in a safe container. The safest and most practical alternative to plastic and glass bottles are stainless steel water bottles. There are some stainless steel water bottles out there that have a lining. This is made from aluminum, which has been linked to alzheimers, amongst other human diseases. It is important to have bottle that is stainless steel inside and out.

I’ve come across a great site with a variety of stainless steel water bottles and accessories to suit everyone’s needs. It’s called SafeCanteen.com

Click here to visit SafeCanteen.com to purchase your own stainless steel water bottle. They come in many sizes, and even have sippy adapters for the little ones. Now the whole family can drink clean water from safe containers.

Although this information has been available for years, for some reason it has been largely ignored. We feel it is time to really get the word out to make people aware. Let’s all do our part.

Millions Threatened by Glacial Meltdown

4 06 2007

According to the UN Environment Program (UNEP), an estimated 40 percent of the world’s population could be affected by loss of snow and glaciers on the mountains of Asia. Communities surrounding the Alps and Pyrenee regions are also among those who would be adversely affected by global warming. Avalanches and floods are just some of the increased potential hazards of the melting ice and snow.
