GLAND, Switzerland, March 21, 2007 (ENS) � Ten of world’s largest rivers are drying up due to “the wanton waste of freshwater resources, poor governance, and a disregard for the needs of local people that frequently exacerbates poverty,” finds a new report by the global conservation organization WWF.
The report, “World’s Top Rivers at Risk,” released ahead of World Water Day on March 22, lists the top 10 rivers that are dying as a result of climate change, pollution and dams.
Five of the 10 rivers listed in the report are in Asia. They are the Yangtze, Mekong, Salween, Ganges and Indus.

About World Water Day
The international observance of World Water Day is an initiative that grew out of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro.
The United Nations General Assembly designated 22 March of each year as the World Day for Water by adopting a resolution.This world day for water was to be observed starting in 1993, in conformity with the recommendations of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development contained in chapter 18 (Fresh Water Resources) of Agenda 21.

People in the Australian state of Queensland will
soon have to start drinking water containing recycled sewage, the state
premier has warned.
Premier Peter Beattie said he had scrapped a referendum on the issue, because there was no longer a choice.
He also warned other Australian states might eventually have to do the same because of mounting water shortages.
Water is already recycled in places like Singapore and the UK, but the idea is still unpopular in Australia.
But the country is currently suffering from a severe
drought - the worst on record. Last week Prime Minister John Howard
declared water security to be the biggest challenge currently facing
Australia, and he announced a A$10bn ($7.7bn; £3.9bn) package to tackle
the problem.

At a pH value of greater than pH11, the redox potential of strong Kangen water is within the -700mV to -850mV range. Strong Kangen Water contains a very small amount of sodium hydroxide, which improves cleaning power. In order to maximize disinfectant property, wash with Strong Kangen Water before using strong acidic water.

NOT SUITABLE AS DRINKING WATER
Strong acid water is the electrolytic water with electrical potential, which includes the hypochlorous acid generated from the anode side when electrolysis is caused. It is made by adding electrolysis enhancer (salt water) to tap water. It is not a chemical. Generally, when lower than pH2.7, it has a redox potential of more than +1.00 mV.
· In the food industry, strong acidic water is regarded as having excellent disinfecting properties, and can be substituted for alcohol and hypo-chlorine sodium.
· In the medical-care industry, the water is widely used for preventing the spread of infection within hospitals, disinfecting medical equipment, general cleaning, as well as for washing the hands.
· In the agriculture industry, the water had been received with great interest for its role in reducing the amount of agricultural chemicals used.
